You need to provide more detailed instruction than "go as high as i can fading my side hair into the longer hair on top", and when you're doing the back "since you already used this clip on the sides, you know how high you're supposed to go".

I've followed this video as closely as possible three times and look like a clown each time. Hope it works better for others than me 😂

Good guide this is the best guide I could find on UA-cam among many for my type of hair, thumbs up! My hair was so long it would rise with the clippers without getting cut... at some point I picked up the clippers not noticing it was without the plastic part on it (so a bare zero) and bzzzz at the back so I ended up shaving it all off

I mean it looked as good as any other haircut I’d ever had, and I even filmed the back of my head in close detail and afar with my iPhone to be sure the fade was even and hadn’t missed a spot, and I hadn’t. 2 days later my office mate gave me a coupon to sports clips though.

I’d always just start with a 1 or even a 0 and go up the sides making it straight with the top of the forehead. The top gets a 3 or even sometimes I use a 4 down the center strip like a Mohawk, and blend everything together gradually. I have not paid for a haircut in pretty close to 30 years. I almost paid for one for my wedding but I promised not to just be a 1.
